JFE Shoji Corporation Businesses of
Automotive
Through the processing, distribution, and sales of steel sheets for automobiles, we play a part in the automotive supply chain
and meet the diverse needs of domestic and foreign automakers.
In response to the recent tightening of global environmental regulations, we are focusing on strengthening our supply chain of light and strong high-tensile steel sheets (high tensile strength), which lead to lighter weight automobiles. We are meeting the local procurement needs of our customers by utilizing our worldwide network and collaborating with the JFE Group's manufacturing bases.
Appliances and Electrical Machinery
We handle steel products, mainly electromagnetic steel sheets and surface-treated steel sheets, for customers who manufacture products that support our daily lives by playing a role in the overall distribution of electricity, such as generators, transformers, home appliances, OA equipment, and electric vehicles.
We have established supply chains in Japan, the Americas, China, ASEAN, and Europe. We are also expanding our business through alliances with partner companies, and our handling volume of electromagnetic steel sheets used in transformers and motors is among the highest in the world. For further growth, we are responding to the growing demand for electric vehicles and electric power by entering new regions, expanding our supply chain by deepening our functions, and expanding competition with our partners.
Steel plates for shipbuilding, construction & industrial machinery, and energy
We purchase thick and
thin plates used for shipbuilding, construction and industrial machinery, Offshore wind power generation, bridges, roof walls, etc. from JFE Steel and other steel manufacturers around the world,
and respond to customer needs
through speedy and proactive proposals and communications.
In Japan, we are enhancing our service capabilities with our unique manufacturing facilities, including integrated processing of blocks for shipbuilding, to increase the strength of thick plates and improve the efficiency of construction. Against the backdrop of slowing growth in steel demand over the medium to long term, we are building a competitive structure in the steel sheet business by strengthening cooperation among coil center companies, improving utilization rates, and appropriately allocating management resources. Overseas, we are building a supply chain for steel sales and processing in the business for Offshore wind power generationand expanding our product lineup through investments in local manufacturers in Vietnam and other countries.
Construction Materials
In Japan, we respond to customers' needs accurately and speedily by utilizing a wide variety of procurement sources in addition to JFE Group's products.
Overseas, we are strengthening our efforts to capture Construction Materialsdemand in the ASEAN and North American regions, where growth is
expected.
Domestic JFE Shoji CorporationSteel Construction MaterialsCorporation, which is responsible for the domestic Construction Materialsfield, will further strengthen its procurement capabilities from various procurement sources, mainly JFE Group commercial materials, the provision of functions using processing and distribution bases, and added value such as steel frame and deck construction work, amid stagnant domestic demand for steel products for construction due to the declining population. In addition, by organically intertwining the individual resources and networks (product types, regions, and group companies) that we have cultivated, we will provide a "one-stop service" for a wide range of products and functions that meet customer needs.

Iron Ore, Coal & Coke
We are expanding our business by providing JFE Steel with iron ore and coal, which are indispensable to the steelmaking industry,
on a stable basis, and also by importing and exporting raw materials to and from overseas
.
As demand for coking coal fluctuates according to market conditions and the grade-oriented nature of the coal at any given time, we are responding to these needs by gathering information on a daily basis, and we are giving priority to the development of coal that can contribute to environmental measures.
We procure iron ore from suppliers operating mines in resource-rich Australia and Brazil.
For coke, we support a stable supply of raw materials by responding to supply and demand conditions. In addition, as a measure to reduce CO₂ emissions, we are expanding our handling of recycled waste plastic products and biomass-derived raw materials and products.
Metallic Materials
We procure ferroalloys, nonferrous Metallic Materialsand nonferrous
special Metallic Materialsmaterials, which are secondary raw materials that determine the properties of steel, from suppliers around the world and sell them to
JFE Steel, domestic steelmakers, and overseas steelmakers.
While various risks are becoming apparent, we are taking advantage of our worldwide network to diversify procurement countries and sources to ensure a stable supply of competitive raw materials to domestic steelmakers. In addition, as overseas demand increases, particularly in Asia, we are also focusing on foreign transactions while strengthening our procurement input through participation in a ferrosilicon production project in Malaysia.
Metal Recycling
While many countries have declared their intention to become carbon neutral by 2050,
we are actively engaged in domestic and international trading of Metal Recyclingand contributing to the creation of a
low-carbon society.
We offer Metal Recyclingthrough a variety of trading formats, including domestic, export, and foreign trade, while utilizing our domestic and international procurement and sales networks and storage yards.
Chemicals
Utilizing our domestic and international networks, we sell a wide variety
of raw materials, mainly produced from coal chemistry, to various industries in Japan and abroad.
The raw materials we handle are used in a variety of applications, including tires, fertilizers for agriculture, electrodes for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, and electronic components used in 5G antenna base stations. We also handle argon gas and other gases that are indispensable for semiconductor manufacturing. All of these products utilize by-products and other materials generated during the production of iron.
Blast Furnace Slag
Amid global efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions,
we are contributing to the prevention of
global warming by actively exporting Blast Furnace Slagto cement manufacturers around the world.
Clinker, an intermediate raw material for cement, emits a large amount of CO₂ during production. Therefore, one of the keys to reducing CO₂ emissions in the industry is to reduce the clinker ratio in the raw materials. As a clinker substitute, the demand for Blast Furnace Slagfinely ground clinker ( Blast Furnace Slagfinely ground clinker) has been increasing in recent years.
Biomass Fuel
With the government's policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to virtually zero by 2050,
the trend toward a de-carbonized society is accelerating.
As a core trading company of the JFE Group, we will contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions throughout society.
Carbon-neutral products such as palm palm shells (PKS), a byproduct of palm oil production, and wood pellets made from thinned and scrap wood are imported from Southeast Asia and sold to various biomass power producers in Japan. In the future, we are considering importing semi-carbonized pellets from North America, which are attracting attention as an alternative to coal, to expand our product lineup.
