On March 13, our Fukuyama Material & Equipment Office participated as a JFE Shoji team in the "Manager's Cup Relay Competition" held on the premises of JFE Steel's West Japan Works (Fukuyama District), and achieved a good result, coming in 9th place out of 30 teams.

　The competition, which was held for the first time in four years due to the Corona disaster, is an annual event that has been held at the steel mill since 1969 under the sponsorship of the director of JFE Steel's West Japan Works. The total number of teams is 30, including 24 teams from JFE Steel divisions and 6 teams from JFE Group companies. The teams competed in a relay format over a total distance of 11 sections of 3 km.

The JFE Shoji Trade team consisted of 10 elite members who had passed the in-house selection committee, plus Mr. Sadaoka, General Manager of the West Japan Material & Equipment Department. In the first section, where each team fielded aces such as former JFE Competition Department members, Fukuyama Shizai Shizai Office/ Mr. Hasegawa got off to a great start, coming in 5th place in the section. The team worked as one to keep their position, and everyone ran with tenacity to pass the baton to the anchor man, Mr. Sadaoka.

The participating employees of our company commented with great satisfaction, "The whole Nishi-Nippon Steel Works (Fukuyama District) premises was excited and we had a lot of fun," and "It was quite tough to run hundreds of meters at full speed, but we hope to improve our ranking next year," and they were already eager to participate in the next year's race.
