Social Contribution Activity] "Picking up fallen branches" was held at Yoyogi Park!
On November 23, as one of the new initiatives for "environment-related events" in our social contribution activities, we held the "Fallen Branches Pickup Event," a recycling program, at Yoyogi Park.
Under the guidance of the Forest Lifestyle Institute, a non-profit organization with strengths in forestry and environmental activities, participants picked up fallen branches in the area they were in charge of. After drying, the collected branches will be turned into woodchips at a processing plant in the park, which will be used to maintain the roads and flower beds on the grounds of the park. By picking up dead branches through this activity, we not only beautify the park, but also prevent injuries from falls and recycle trees.
In a social contribution awareness survey conducted by JFE Shoji in September, a large number of people expressed a desire to participate in "environment-related activities that can be casually joined by family and friends," so we decided to hold this event.
On the day of the event, about 50 JFE Shoji Group employees and their families participated, some of them with their dogs. The dead branches varied in size, with the largest measuring nearly 2 meters. The children were able to take a break while eating snacks provided, so they worked hard until the end without getting bored. After about two hours from the start, a large number of dead branches were piled on the blue sheets. After the cleanup, the event came to an end with participants enjoying a box lunch and socializing with each other.
As part of its efforts to realize a sustainable society, the JFE Shoji Group will continue to promote social contribution activities, including educational activities related to environmental beautification, as a unified group.
