On November 21, the Technical Management Department held the "11th J1 Presentation Meeting of JFE Shoji Group Companies in Japan" online, where 12 domestic JFE Shoji Group companies and 14 business sites presented their improvement measures and examples of safety activities to improve productivity and operation rates.

JFE Shoji Group companies in Japan have been implementing "J1 activities" as an initiative to solve issues in safety, quality, operation, delivery, and other areas in their manufacturing divisions. The "Domestic Group Company J1 Presentation Convention" is held every year as a forum for reporting the results of these activities, and awards are given for outstanding efforts.

This year again, each company presented their initiatives and results in front of an audience of more than 100 people. The Grand Prize went to the Chiba Plant of JFE Shoji Electromagnetic Steel Sheet Co. The company was recognized for its unique ideas to improve jigs and procedures for low-productivity slit processing, resulting in a significant increase in productivity. The Excellence Award went to Hanwa Kozai's Yoshikawa Plant, which analyzed and improved the reasons for leveling line stoppages, reduced the number of stoppages, and improved yield rates. At the award ceremony, Mr. Adachi, executive director in charge of the project, commented, "I was very happy to see that the J1 activity was undertaken for the sake of the company's and my own growth. Both companies made easy-to-understand presentations on everything from problem identification to problem solving. I hope that this award will motivate them to continue their improvement activities.

The JFE Shoji Group will continue to promote activities to solve various problems in the workplace and horizontally disseminate information to further improve productivity and safety at each company.
