Comprehensive Disaster Drill Held Simultaneously in JFE Shoji Group

On September 19, the JFE Shoji Group held a comprehensive disaster drill simultaneously at all Group companies nationwide. The disaster drills are held every year as an opportunity to "recognize the importance of basic actions to be taken in an emergency, such as "protection of oneself" and "safety confirmation," against disasters that may occur at any time of the day or night, and to consider and learn the actions to be taken by each and every employee. This year, approximately 2,800 JFE Shoji Group employees in Japan participated in the training.
This year's drill was conducted under the assumption that an earthquake of magnitude 7.3 with an epicenter directly under the Tokyo metropolitan area had occurred, that Otemachi, where JFE Shoji Trade's head office is located, was hit with a maximum intensity of 7, that telephones were out of service due to power failure, and that the Internet could be used but with some delays. When the drill was broadcast, employees put on disaster prevention helmets and hid under their desks to ensure their own safety before confirming their safety. At the head office, a disaster task force was set up to respond to the power outage, gather information, and consolidate information.
In addition, each department and office read through materials and reconfirmed disaster response measures, such as actions to protect oneself, safety reporting, triage for returning home, and stockpiles. We will continue to conduct regular disaster drills to be prepared to protect the safety of our employees and continue our business in the event of a disaster.
