Our Beach Rugby Club participated in the "Beach Rugby Japan Tour 2023 Kanto Tournament" organized by the Japan Beach Rugby Association, with tournament-style matches held at Shonan Bellmare Hiratsuka Beach Park in Kanagawa Prefecture over two days from July 29 to July 30. Beach Rugby is a beach sport that originated in Japan in 1990, played by five players against five players, and is a mix of rugby and American football. The Beach Rugby Club officially became a club activity in 2015, when a group of volunteers from the same class of 2013 joined the company and competed in the Kanto tournament, which was the impetus for the team's establishment.
　On the first day, 48 teams competed, and two teams from our company entered: the Narashino Myanmars, led by Mr. Mizuto of the First Sheet Metal Department, and the Billet Slubs, led by Mr. Nagabuchi of the Material Handling Department. Both teams made it through the first round with flying colors, but regrettably, "Narashino Myanmar's" was eliminated in the second round. The "Billet Slubs" won the first round 6-0 and the second round was also a close match that went to a tiebreaker. However, both teams, with few players with beach rugby experience, were able to get through the first round, and the cheering was very exciting.
　A total of 30 players and supporters, including new employees, gathered from all over the region for this tournament, and it was a great opportunity to deepen friendship beyond the boundaries of year, department, and region through sports. Mr. Yamada of the Legal Department, who is in charge of the Narashino Myanmar's team, commented, "Through the training and training camp for this game, I was able to deepen my relationship with not only my peers but also my seniors and juniors with whom I do not usually have the opportunity to interact. We are aiming for the national championship next year, and we will start by strengthening our stamina! He expressed his passion for the game.
