Group company Niigata Steel held a ceremony in Sanjo City on June 27 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of its founding, attended by about 50 people, including the company's employees and business partners.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Hirano, president of the company, said, "The company was founded in Sanjo in 1905 as Chujo Steel Shop. The founding family continued to make steady efforts even under severe circumstances such as the Great Kanto Earthquake, the Great Depression, and two world wars, and has maintained the family business through the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras," he said, looking back on the company's history. He continued, "It is said that only about 1% of companies in Japan have been in business for more than 100 years. We have been able to continue our business up to this point thanks to our customers, the founding family, our predecessors, current employees, and our onsite subcontractors who have given us strong support over the years. One of our greatest assets is the number of young people who have joined our company in recent years, many of whom will lead the next generation. I will continue to develop Niigata Steel together with all of you," he said, expressing his gratitude to those involved and expressing his determination.

Mr. Meisei, General Manager of the Seiita Department, also attended the ceremony as a guest of honor. He said, "The 120th anniversary is more senior than that of JFE Steel's predecessors, Kawasaki Steel Corporation and NKK Corporation. The efforts of our founding family and the efforts of our employees have made Niigata Steel what it is today. Niigata Steel is an important partner and we would like to continue to support them," he said in his toast.

Niigata Steel will continue to push forward as a company specializing in steel sheet processing.
