JFE Shoji Group held a comprehensive disaster drill!
On September 26, the JFE Shoji Group held a comprehensive disaster drill at all of its domestic bases and group companies at the same time. The disaster drills are held every year as an opportunity to "recognize the importance of basic actions to be taken in an emergency, such as "protection of oneself" and "safety confirmation," against a disaster that may occur at any time, and to think about and learn what actions each and every employee should take on a daily basis.
The headquarters conducted the drill under the assumption that an earthquake of magnitude 9.0 with an epicenter in the Nankai Trough had hit the Otemachi area, where JFE Shoji Trade head office is located, with an intensity of just under 5 on the Japanese seismic scale and a maximum intensity of 6 or higher west of Shizuoka, with approximately 100 sites across the country being affected. The drill included confirming the division of roles and methods for confirming the safety of employees in a wide area, and receiving reports from the Osaka and Nagoya branches on the status of the disaster with limited means of communication.
When the drill announcement was made, employees put on disaster prevention helmets and hid under their desks to ensure their own safety, and then reported on their safety using the "Safety Confirmation Service" application. The participants also confirmed their personal responses in the event of disasters such as fire, windstorm, flood, terrorism, and conflict, as well as earthquakes.
The JFE Shoji Group places the highest priority on the safety of its employees and is striving to establish a system that can respond quickly and appropriately in the event of a disaster. Through regular disaster drills, we will continue to contribute to society by raising disaster awareness and strengthening the safety of the entire organization.
