Our Tokyo Baseball Club participated in the Shosha League held at the grounds of the Sankei Sports Center in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture. This league is a round-robin tournament among seven trading companies from May 19 to November 24.

Our first game was against Sumitomo Corporation on May 19. The batting lineup, from the top to the bottom of the order, connected well, and Mr. Watanabe of the Sheet Metal Trading Office was especially active with four hits, including two triples, and scored double-digit runs! The pitching staff, led by Mr. Kawazu of the Chemicals Dept. and Mr. Arayama of the Daiichi Automobile & Steel Trading Dept., limited the opponents to two runs and won the game 12-2.

The second game on June 9 was against the powerful Hanwa Kogyo. In the first inning, Mr. Maruhashi of the Accounting Office hit a sacrifice fly, and in the second inning, Mr. Akita of the Electrical Steel Materials Office and JFE Steel loanee hit a timely two-run triple, scoring four runs. Defensively, starting pitchers Mr. Mitani of the Recruiting and Training Office and Mr. Yamaura of the Daiichi Automotive Steel & Materials Trading Office pitched well, allowing only one run in five innings, but allowed a grand slam home run in the 6th inning and ultimately lost the game 4-8.
